MENDOCINO CO., 06/05/17 — Firefighters from the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, the Redwood Valley/Calpella Fire Authority, and Cal Fire contained a small blaze near the Highway 101 Northbound/Calpella interchange just now, near the northbound Highway 101 lanes. The three departments responded with mutual aid, but the majority of engines were called back to their stations as the fire was contained quickly. According to the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, the crew has returned to their station and Cal Fire is now mopping up and clearing the area.
Here’s the photo we received from a reader — stay safe out there this season! There have already been a number of small fires around the county and vegetation and brush this year is very dense due to the wet winter and spring.
