MENDOCINO Co., 5/18/2017 — The county is offering a Latino cultural responsiveness training in Willits on Monday, May 22. Here’s a press release, with details about how to take part:

Latino Cultural Responsiveness Training

Mendocino County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services is sponsoring a Latino Cultural Responsiveness Training with Ricardo Carrillo, Ph.D., on May 22, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Training will be held at the Willits Integrated Service Center building, located at 472 East Valley Street, in the Atlantic Conference Room. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. This training is targeted towards behavioral health service providers, but is open to the community, and will cover the following topics:

  • Overall understanding of cultural diversity in behavioral health
  • Various cultural aspects to be considered when delivering psychological services to Latino groups
  • Patterns of belief and expectations that play a significant role in the counseling process
  • Cultural values and stress factors affecting Latino groups
  • Practical therapeutic approaches based on relevant and appropriate cultural understanding
