De’Shaun Davis, 20, named as homicide victim by MCSO

MENDOCINO CO., 11/28/16 —The name of the man killed in Ukiah on Nov. 21 is De’Shaun Davis according the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, who released his name in a press release today. Davis was allegedly murdered on Vichy Springs Road in Ukiah by Steven Ryan, of Ukiah. Ryan, 62, initially claimed that he acted in self defense — however, he is currently being held on murder charges.

Davis was initially described by the MSCO as “semi-transient” but family members have stated he has both family and roots in the area. On his Facebook page Davis stated that he was a sawyer at Mendocino and Humboldt Forestry and that he had graduated from Lower Lake High School and studied at Mendocino College. Other sources indicate he might have played for the Mendocino College football team, and his Facebook includes pictures of him practicing, and in a Mendocino football jersey.
