In case you aren’t checking the weather, the North Coast is due for some serious rain beginning Thursday, totaling up to several inches around Mendocino. High winds are expected, especially on exposed ridgetops on Thursday and Saturday. Saturday’s winds are expected to be the strongest, with surf heights as high as 20 feet.
Residents are advised to clear out their storm drains, secure patio furniture, and take the necessary preparations for their farms and gardens before the rain arrives, as it may continue for several days. We also recommend taking additional caution on the roads, particularly when the rain first starts — the first rain of the year recently brought a spate of bad accidents along Mendocino’s roads, so please be careful out there!
Here’s the latest report from the National Weather Service:

October 11 forecast from NOAA in Eureka for rain arriving October 13.
Residents of the North Coast should keep in mind that next week will see particularly larger “pergiean spring tides.” The National Weather Service is predicting such tides between October 17 – 19 and then again from November 13 – 17.
