Bear killed in crash on Highway 162; driver has minor injuries

MENDOCINO CO., 9/27/16 – A small gray sedan hit a bear at 8:47 this morning on Highway 162, the Covelo Rd, near the Laytonville Dos Rios Rd. The bear initially appeared to be injured and causing a traffic hazard, but at 9:24, the animal was reported to be dead and no longer a traffic hazard. A tow truck was called at 9:28. The subject suffered minor injuries but at 10:01 the CHP reported the subject was not being transported to the hospital.
