Low-cost spay and neuter clinic set for March in Ukiah

Organized by Mendocino Animal Care Services and Animal Balance, appointments are required.

The donation arrives amid rising owner surrenders, limited veterinary capacity and increasing demand for low-cost spay and neuter services.

But staff, aided by the community, have multiple programs to keep pets safe at home.

The shelter is over-capacity with dogs and cannot take in owner-surrenders, even those in difficult situations.

Veterinary technician Sarah O’Rourke works with Mendocino County’s Care-a-Van spay and neuter program, helping animals and low-income families.
