MENDOCINO CO., 04/17/26 —Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed states of emergency on Friday to support recovery from severe weather in Santa Cruz County, Mendocino County and Sonoma County.
The proclamations allow access to state assistance and resources to help communities get over the disasters that occurred late last year, the Governor’s Office said.
The Santa Cruz storm in November exceeded the capacity of local drainage systems causing widespread damage to roadways, debris accumulation and a mudslide in Scotts Valley, according to the Governor’s Office.
December storms in Mendocino and Sonoma counties resulted from an atmospheric river that brought several rounds of widespread rain and strong winds and damaged the state highway system, the proclamation said.
