MENDOCINO CO., 4/17/26 — The Mendocino City Community Services District has started work on its recycled water upgrade and expansion project as well as work to replace some sewer mains. Colorful paint markings on the ground have been appearing around the town of Mendocino, which according to the district, mark existing underground utilities and show where the new pipes will be installed.

The project will add 15 new fire hydrants, provide about 300,000 gallons of recycled water storage, upgrade elements of the city community services wastewater treatment plant and replace aging sewer mains for system reliability. A meeting of the district in March awarded the contract to Ghilotti Construction Company, which operates in 13 counties and maintains an office in Ukiah.

Trenching is currently expected to be done by the end of June. Check the MCCSD website for updates.
