MENDOCINO CO., 12/6/25 – A prescribed burn is scheduled to begin Monday at the Point Arena–Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument, the Bureau of Land Management said. 

The burn is part of an ongoing effort by the BLM’s Ukiah Field Office to reduce wildfire risk and restore coastal prairie. Work in the area has included removing hazardous trees and thinning encroaching conifers, along with earlier prescribed fire treatments.
