UKIAH, CA., 7/3/25 — Guess what, commuters? Gobbi Street is paved! Crews are still working, though, installing the raised crosswalk near the Rail Trail. That job is expected to be finished by July 9.

We’d suggest you drive within the lines, but those are still a work in progress. Striping scheduled for July 21. The traffic signals will stop flashing after the streets are striped.

Pack your ear plugs on your commute, because here comes the noise, starting with Main Street.

Grinding starts next Wednesday at the Gobbi and Main intersection, working towards Perkins.

Traffic and businesses will be impacted as crews work block by block. Residents and businesses will receive notifications of blocked driveways and access. Here’s a tentative grinding schedule:

July 9-15 – Grinding from Gobbi to Perkins on the east side
July 15-18 – Grinding from Perkins to Norton on the east side
July 21-23 – Grinding from Norton to Perkins on the west side
July 23-25 – Grinding from Perkins to Gobbi on the west side

Contractors are grinding out 18″ of pavement. Soft spots will require extra work (as occurred on East Gobbi), which may result in delays. At the end, the city promises “a beautifully restored and paved road, including brand new utilities and sidewalks.”

Paving on Main is scheduled from July 30-August 12.

No crews will be working on the 4th of July holiday.
