UKIAH, CA., 6/10/25 — On Wednesday, the Ukiah Planning Commission will be holding a meeting to consider making recommendations to the City Council on the proposed annexation of unincorporated areas outside the city. These areas are located in the Willow area south of the city and a portion of Millview to the north.

The proposed annexation, which has prompted concerns among some locals, has been officially named the “Ukiah Valley Reorganization” by the city of Ukiah. Several people against the proposal, who have been attending the city’s recent meetings to protest, created a Facebook page called “No Ukiah Annexation” to share updates and discuss upcoming meetings.

According to the staff report prepared for Wednesday’s meeting by the city’s Community Development Department, the planning commission will “make recommendations regarding proposed amendments and actions that are in line with the city’s planning objectives to support the sustainable delivery of regional services and infrastructure to both incorporated and unincorporated residents of the Ukiah Valley.”

Wednesday’s discussion follows other meetings organized by the city of Ukiah to inform residents about the process of annexing unincorporated land. The city’s most recent event, an annexation workshop last week, featured presentations by staff on four topics: economics, zoning, Local Agency Formation Commission guidelines, and public safety.

The Ukiah Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Ukiah Civic Center, 300 Seminary Ave. The meeting is open to the public and can be attended in person or remotely. People wanting to attend the meeting via Zoom can use this link. The city will also host a town hall at 5:30 p.m. on June 19, at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, 200 S. School St. City staff will share more details about the annexation proposal during the event.
