MENDOCINO CO., 3/7/25 – A Eureka man with a felony warrant out for his arrest was arrested on Thursday night near Willits after allegedly stabbing a man, said the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 10:10 p.m. Thursday to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Kawi Place near Willits.
When they arrived at the scene, deputies found the victim, a 47-year-old man from Willits and started medical aid. The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
In conjunction with wardens from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and officers from the Willits Police Department, deputies began searching for the suspect, 47-year-old Jason Ryan Omholt of Eureka.
During the search, deputies learned that Omholt had a felony arrest warrant for an alleged vehicle theft out for his arrest in Humboldt County. Further investigation led to a tip on the possible location of where Omholt was staying locally.
Deputies arrived in the 2600 block of Mitomkai Way to find Omholt hiding in a bedroom. He refused to come out of the bedroom, only to surrender after negotiations, said the Sheriff’s Office.
Omholt was arrested and booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting arrest and the felony arrest warrant.
