MENDOCINO CO., 3/6/25 – The National Weather Service has issued a frost warning for coastal areas and a freeze warning for inland areas of Mendocino County for Friday.

A frost warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday for the entire Mendocino Coast, from Westport to Gualala, said the weather service. Temperatures as low as 33 degrees are possible.

A freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday for inland Mendocino County, including Leggett, Covelo, Laytonville, Willits, Ukiah, Hopland and valley areas. Temperatures as low as 27 are expected.

“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the weather service said. “Take steps to protect tender plants from the cold.”

The weather service also advises that people stay indoors during frost and freeze conditions, especially older adults, children, outdoor workers and individuals with chronic conditions. Pets should also remain indoors.
