MENDOCINO CO., 1/29/25 — Deputies in Mendocino County on Tuesday located a woman who went missing during a mushroom foraging outing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
On Monday, 59-year-old Fort Bragg woman Linda Doar was reported missing after she had been mushroom hunting on Jackson Demonstration State Forest land and wandered away from her friends.
At 8:30 p.m., deputies were sent to the 42000 block of Road 409 to begin a search for Doar, who had left her friends at about 5 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said. Her friends became concerned after night fell in the densely wooded area.
Doar was not located on Monday night and a search-and-rescue operation was planned for dawn on Tuesday.
At about 7 a.m., deputies began their search and other search-and-rescue personnel arrived. Doar “had walked out of the woods and she was found near the Mendocino Volunteer Fire Station on Road 409,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Doar was found with a minor injury and then she was released by paramedics, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

We should all be grateful to the Mendo Sheriff’s Dept. and all the volunteers who donate their time and effort to Search and Rescue. Many thanks once again for your efforts to find, and save, when possible, those folks who didn’t make it home.
