MENDOCINO Co., 7/01/17 — It’s 4th of July weekend, and if you’re not already booked up with BBQs and beach trips, there’s plenty happening around the county to keep entertained. We’ve put together a list of fireworks and other fun activities happening for you to check out — let us know if we’ve missed anything! As you’re enjoying the holiday, the California Highway Patrol will be implementing a “Maximum Enforcement Period,” from June 30 through July 4, which means there will be more officers on the road enforcing highway safety and seatbelt laws. A CHP press release about the added enforcement reminds drivers that due to impaired drivers and increased traffic, holiday weekends such as these often result in higher fatalities and arrests. They ask you to buckle up, drive with caution, and pick a designated driver to make sure you get home safe.
