A quail chick enjoys the safety of snuggling under dad’s tail feathers in the Little Valley area of Fort Bragg, Calif., on Friday, July 10, 2026. The Quail seem to have tight-knit families. We often see a dad Quail on our fence posts watching over many young quail as they feed on seeds and bathe in the dirt of our garden. Rarely do we see a solitary baby like this.
