UKIAH, CA., 7/11/26 — The Mendocino Transit Authority is making changes to several bus routes throughout Mendocino County starting later this month.
Coming July 20, seven MTA bus routes will have their schedules and routes adjusted, the transit authority said. The new timetables, full route maps and printable schedules will be posted at www.mendocinotransit.org on Monday, and the MTA urges riders to check the new schedules before travelling on July 20.
Dawn White, mobility manager for MTA, said the following routes will be changed:
- Route 9 that runs throughout Ukiah will shift from running every 30 minutes at each stop to hourly service.
- Route 20 that runs from Willits to Ukiah will have two less trips between the cities per weekday.
- Route 65 that goes from Fort Bragg to Willits will add two stops in Willits — Willits City Park and Mendocino College North County Center.
- Route 1 that runs throughout Willits will not run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. for the purpose of a lunch break.
- Route 5 that runs throughout Fort Bragg will go from running every hour to every 2 hours from 7:35 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.
- Route 60 will do three instead of four trips up and down the coast.
- Route 75 will change on Saturdays to only going between the Navarro store and Ukiah, not all the way to Gualala.
White said the changes are major and have been in the works since the beginning of the year. The purpose of the changes, she said, is to try to streamline and find efficiencies based on when people ride.
“It’s all about the passengers,” White said. “We’re hoping these changes line up with what they’re needing.”
White said the last route change she could recall was five years ago — Route 60 to start serving a senior area off the coast, she said.
White noted the MTA “changes routes not very often at all.”
