MENDOCINO CO., 6/25/26 — Firefighters battled a wildfire in Redwood Valley on Thursday afternoon that prompted evacuation orders for several residential streets in Mendocino County. The impacted streets are Forsythe Drive, Vineyard Oaks Drive, and Oak Pond Court. At post time, forward progress has been stopped per Cal Fire, and evacuation orders were lifted as of 1:32 p.m.
The Coyote Fire was first reported around 12:40 p.m. as a vegetation fire near Vineyard Oaks Drive and Forsythe Drive, according to Watch Duty, the wildfire-tracking service. Within minutes, fire officials reported the blaze was threatening structures and called for additional resources.
An evacuation order was issued shortly after 1 p.m. for Forsythe Drive, Vineyard Oaks Drive and Oak Pond Court, directing residents to leave immediately and not delay. Those orders were lifted shortly after the blaze was stopped.

Maybe it was started by a spark from calfire doing control burns right across the way?
It is good to see Savana went out to the fire. Great pic! And I can learn so much more from this excellent, storytelling pic than all the dry facts. Reporting by Watch Duty alone is a betrayal of the readers. We learned so much going to the fires in the old days, great stuff that made people think and read. Watch Duty is nice, but a recipe for killing reporting and needed information if used by itself.
