SONOMA CO., 4/5/26 — The Redwood Coast Land Conservancy hosts an expert-led talk about Pacific gray whales at the Sea Ranch Lodge on the northern Sonoma coast on Thursday. Guests are invited to explore the bluffs and look for whales after the talk. There will also be a live jazz performance after the talk along with a bar serving wine, beer, cocktails and light bites.

At the talk, Scott and Tree Mercer, founders of the Mendonoma Whale and Seal Study, will share firsthand fieldwork, population data, behavioral observations and visuals about Pacific gray whales along the Mendocino-Sonoma coastline. The Mercers have been recognized for their work on the gray whale unusual mortality event and have a combined 80 years of experience in biology.

Admission to the event is free, and dinner reservations are recommended. The event is at Sea Ranch in the Fireside Lounge at the historic Sea Ranch Lodge, 60 Sea Walk Drive, April 9, starting at 4 p.m.
