MENDOCINO CO., 1/19/26 – The Rykken & Scull LGBT Memorial Fund is accepting scholarship applications from students living in Mendocino County who plan to attend, or are currently attending, a higher education institution, trade school or art school. 

The announcement was made Tuesday by Positive Images, the Sonoma County-based nonprofit that manages the scholarship program.  

According to Positive Images, the fund’s mission is “to alleviate bigotry and prejudice against LGBTQIA+⁠ individuals and their communities.⁠” 

The fund will award scholarships to students in Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa, Solano or Marin counties who have demonstrated strong support for the LGBTQ community at their school or in the community at large. 

Applicants do not need to identify as LGBTQ but must be significantly involved in supporting LGBTQ-related causes and efforts locally. 

Eligible applicants include: 

  • High school seniors expected to graduate in 2026 who plan to attend a college or university, technical school, or art or performing arts school 
  • Individuals who graduated prior to 2026 and plan to attend one of the above institutions 
  • Students currently enrolled in one of the above institutions
