MENDOCINO CO., 1/23/26 — A 21-year-old Covelo man with six felony warrants for his arrest was taken into custody earlier this week, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.
Kory Whipple was arrested Wednesday in an operation involving a regional SWAT team, a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force, and personnel from the sheriff’s offices of Mendocino and Humboldt counties.
On Sunday, a burglary was reported on Logan Lane in Covelo and investigators eventually identified Whipple as a suspect in the case. After learning he had six outstanding felony warrants and was sought by the Marshals Service, investigators planned the operation to take him into custody and recover the stolen property, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities served a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Biggar Lane and found Whipple there. He was taken into custody without incident and a large amount of stolen property was recovered, sheriff’s officials said.
He was booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of the outstanding warrants, which included probation violations and allegations of vandalism and felony fleeing from law enforcement, as well as being booked for alleged burglary and possession of stolen property.
He remained in custody on no-bail status as of Friday.
