Another strong storm continues through Friday
A powerful storm system continues to move through Mendocino County, bringing moderate to heavy rain, strong winds and isolated thunderstorms through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Conditions are expected to gradually taper off later Friday.
Residents are encouraged to follow NWS Eureka on social media for urgent alerts related to high winds, thunderstorms, hail and other hazardous weather associated with the storm.
High wind concerns dwindle away this morning, but will return tonight
The NWS has issued a wind advisory for the coast, south inland and northeastern areas of the county, including Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Point Arena, Ukiah, Anderson Valley and Covelo. It is scheduled to expire 10 p.m. Friday.
The weather service anticipates that southerly winds 15 to 25 mph with 50 mph wind gusts are possible.

Thunderstorms are possible while flood concerns remain place through Friday
The National Weather Service says isolated thunderstorms remain possible in some areas. Residents should seek shelter if a thunderstorm moves through the area. If thunder roars, head indoors.
A flood watch remains in effect through Friday night for the entire county. The NWS forecasts an additional 3 to 6 inches of rain, with up to 9 inches possible in higher elevations. While breaks in rainfall are expected, saturated ground and swollen waterways increase the risk of flooding, downed trees and debris.
As of 9 a.m., the National Water Prediction Center did not forecast the Russian River or Navarro River reaching flood stage. However, conditions can change quickly, and travelers are urged to follow the guidance: “Turn around, don’t drown,” if they encounter flooded roadways.
A list of sandbag stations is available.
