MENDOCINO CO., 11/30/25 – A Ukiah man was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening another man with a weapon and ramming the victim’s vehicle as he tried to escape, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Lake Mendocino Drive in unincorporated Ukiah after a man reported that an unknown man pointed a firearm at him. The victim told deputies that when hetried to drive away, the suspect followed and intentionally struck his vehicle.

A CHP officer located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The vehicle was later found in the 1700 block of Tanya Lane, a residential area in Ukiah.

Because the suspect had not been located, the Sheriff’s Office issued a Nixle alert advising nearby residents to shelter in place.

A short time later, 26-year-old Ukiah resident Eloy Lopez Jr. exited an apartment on Tanya Lane and was detained while deputies sought a search warrant, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lopez was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and two misdemeanors: brandishing an imitation firearm and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on $30,000 bail.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office dispatch center at (707) 463-4086 or the anonymous tip line at (707) 234-2100.
