UKIAH, CA., 11/24/25 – The City of Ukiah announced Monday that there will be no construction work on Perkins Street or Orchard Avenue on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, or Friday. In addition, no night work is scheduled at all this week.

The city reports that substantial progress has been made. Storm drain installation is wrapping up today, completing a major phase of the project. Crews expect to begin gutter and driveway pours early this week before shutting down for the holiday. The project remains on track for paving in early December.

Traci Boyl from the city manager’s office said, “The progress on this project reflects the dedication of many teams who keep things moving even during busy seasons, and we’re grateful for everyone’s commitment to creating a safe and welcoming corridor.”

  1. What’s with the clown world show of turning off the automated traffic lights at Perkins & Orchard for weeks? Seriously, they couldn’t jury-rig something to keep them on considering the heavy traffic through that intersection, except for when they actually needed to work on the cabling?

  2. I have found the flashing red lights at Perkins and Orchard work quite well. Long lines move rather quickly and this busy intersection does not seem to have had trouble while substantial work is being done there. Bonnie Carter
