MENDOCINO CO., 10/31/25 – The California Highway Patrol will initiate a “maximum enforcement period” this weekend to promote safe driving and reduce traffic fatalities during the Halloween holiday.
Starting Friday at 6 p.m. and running through Saturday at 6 a.m., CHP officers will be out in force making sure seat belts are buckled, drivers are sober, and speed limits are respected.
“Impaired driving destroys lives, and even one life lost is one too many,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee in a press release. “This Halloween, we’re asking everyone to do their part before the festivities begin, arrange a sober ride and help us keep California’s roads safe for everyone who uses them.”
During last year’s Halloween enforcement period, officers made 120 arrests for driving under the influence and investigated nearly 500 vehicle collisions statewide, two which resulted in deaths.
