UKIAH, CA., 9/20/25 – A Rancho Cordova man with a history of auto theft has been sentenced to four years in state prison, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Peng Yang, 46, had four prior felony convictions for auto theft before he was arrested near Piercy, an unincorporated community in northern Mendocino County, in what became his fifth conviction.

Prosecutors said Yang stole a Toyota Camry in July from a Sacramento driveway. California Highway Patrol officers later stopped him driving the vehicle just north of Piercy.

Yang was convicted of felony vehicle theft and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to the victim, a single mother.

Yang’s criminal record dates to 1997, when he was convicted of second-degree burglary in Yolo County. Since then, he has been convicted 11 times, including this week’s conviction, on charges including burglary, stolen property and grand theft, in addition to other non-theft convictions, the District Attorney’s Office said.
