MENDOCINO CO., 9/20/25 – Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday appointed FredRicco McCurry as a Mendocino County Superior Court judge. 

McCurry, a Democrat, fills the vacancy created by the January 2024 retirement of Judge Jeannie Nadel. He has served as a Mendocino County deputy public defender since 2022 and became deputy alternate public defender earlier this year. 

McCurry previously spent more than 20 years in private practice. He is also a U.S. Army veteran, where he served as a transportation officer, deputy director of logistical operations and chief of staff at the 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. 

He earned a law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. 

McCurry was among 15 Superior Court judges Newsom appointed statewide on Thursday.
