Defendant Patrick Lee Painter, Jr., 52, of the south end of Ukiah, Calif., was before the Mendocino County Superior Court on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 for sentencing on two felonies, fourteen misdemeanors, and one sentencing allegation. While he emotionally pled for leniency and another chance on probation, that request was denied and was sentenced to 68 months in state prison. (Mendocino County District Attorney via Bay City News)

UKIAH, CA., 8/6/25 – A Ukiah man with a long history of driving under the influence has been sentenced to over five years in state prison, Mendocino County District Attorney David Eyster said Tuesday.

Patrick Lee Painter Jr., 52, was given 68 months in prison for two felonies and 14 misdemeanors, almost all related to driving under the influence.

Painter has a history of DUI convictions. In December 2022, he was found to be driving drunk, resisting arrest, and driving without an ignition interlock device on a suspended license.

According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, that device is required after a DUI involves injury or if the convicted party has prior DUI convictions.

In February 2023, Painter was again found driving drunk without an ignition interlock device on a suspended license. He also was found guilty of misdemeanor battery for assaulting a 16-year-old fast food worker and providing false information to a police officer.

Two days after his arrest for his February DUI, Painter was again found to be driving a vehicle without the device on a suspended license.

In May 2024, he led police on a vehicle chase with speeds exceeding 120 mph, which led to him being found guilty of a felony and two more misdemeanors for driving without an ignition interlock device on a suspended license.

In June 2024, Painter would be found to be driving on a suspended license again. The next month, he jumped bail, resulting in a felony. Days later he was found to be driving a vehicle with a forged or altered vehicle registration.

    1. How sad for you, Lisa Painter. Did you ever, even once, try and get him to stop driving while impaired? Now THAT would be loving him.
