A new website from the California Department of Food and Agriculture makes it easier to find agritourism experiences across the state, the department said Thursday.
From vineyard tours to u-pick orchards, the Experience California Agriculture website features hundreds of opportunities to explore.
The website offers interactive maps, regional guides, curated collections of u-pick farms, farm tours, farm stands and stores, farm-to-table restaurants and more.
“California is more than the country’s leading agricultural state—it’s a living classroom and a place where food, family, and farming intersect in powerful ways,” said California Secretary of Agriculture Karen Ross. “This new website makes it easier than ever for people to connect with the people and places who grow our food and steward our land.”
Mendocino County’s world-class wineries are featured, as are fog-kissed farm stands, cider tastings at Gowan’s, and the county’s plethora of farmers markets.
Additional opportunities await a stone’s throw from the county, in Lake and Sonoma Counties. A bit further out offers restaurants, wineries, u-picks farms, local dairies and more from Santa Cruz to Stockton and beyond. It’s a good road trip companion if you find yourself on the road.
With the new site, the department hopes to attract more interest in agritourism as a draw for travel, while serving also as an educational tool showcasing the state’s diverse agriculture industry.
