Bonnie is available for adoption at Ukiah Animal Shelter. (Ukiah Animal Shelter via Bay City News)

UKIAH, CA., 6/3/25 – This week’s Featured Pet is Bonnie, a three-year-old dog available for adoption at the Ukiah Animal Shelter.

Here’s her profile from the Ukiah Animal Shelter:

Beautiful Bonnie is a little shy when she first meets new people but sure enjoys getting pets and attention. We think she may have been an outdoor dog in her past home. Our volunteers are working on her leash training and helping our beautiful girl gain confidence when she’s out and about on walks. Bonnie would probably love a large, secure outdoor area to run around in, and spend time soaking up the sun, checking out the flowers, and living the good life. Bonnie is a Great Pyrenees, three years old and 74 fluffy pounds. The American Kennel Club describes the Great Pyrenees as “bred centuries ago to work with shepherds and herding dogs in the Pyrenees Mountains. The Pyr’s job was to watch the flock and deter predators, whether wolves, bears, or livestock rustlers. Their innate patience came in handy when sitting atop a freezing-cold mountain for days on end with nothing to do but look at sheep. Their courage when defending the flock is legendary.” Pyrs are affectionate, gentle, calm, patient and loyal around those they love and can, with training, become wonderful family pets.
