FORT BRAGG, CA., 5/28/25 – A 39-year-old man was arrested last week for allegedly shooting at his roommate near Fort Bragg, according to Mendocino County authorities.
In a statement Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were sent to the 17000 block of North Main Street to investigate a reported shooting at 10:28 p.m. on Thursday.
The 23-year-old victim told authorities he believed he had been shot at by his roommate, Saysomone Manyphone, a 39-year-old Fort Bragg resident.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim emerged from the residence and was found to be unharmed. Unsure whether Manyphone remained inside the home, deputies repeatedly called for him to come out but received no response. They soon discovered Manyphone’s vehicle was no longer at the property.
A preliminary search of the residence turned up reported evidence that a firearm had been discharged inside. Deputies secured a search warrant, and a more thorough investigation revealed further signs of a violent assault, confirming probable cause to point to Manyphone as the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office alleged.
Despite extensive efforts throughout the early hours of Friday, May 23, authorities were initially unable to find Manyphone.
Later that day, at 6:24 p.m., the Fort Bragg Police Department received a tip about Manyphone’s whereabouts. Police officers responded to the 300 block of North Main Street, where they located and detained him.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office subsequently arrested Manyphone. He was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
