MENDOCINO CO., 4/16/25 – Earth Day is an annual event dedicated to environmentalism and the importance of protecting our planet. This year, Earth Day falls on a Tuesday. As a result, events are taking place throughout Mendocino County this weekend and next.

Covelo 

Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, April 19 — The annual Earth Day Celebration in Covelo features live music, resource and educational booths, arts & crafts, a clothing swap, scavenger hunt and numerous food and beverage vendors. Fort Bragg 

Earth Day Festival, Saturday, April 19 – Celebrate Earth Day at the Noyo Food Forest’s annual Earth Day Festival. This year’s festival will include live entertainment with Circus Mecca, The Runabout and Bella Rayne, and 2nd Hand Grass with Gene Parsons. There will also be a plant sale, hands-on activities, arts & crafts, nonprofit booths, food, upcycled clothing, and bicycle-powered smoothies. Free, 12-5 p.m., The Learning Garden at Fort Bragg High School, 300 Dana St., Fort Bragg, noyofoodforest.org.  

Hopland 

Easter & Earth Day, Saturday, April 19 – Two wineries, Terra Sávia and Duncan Peak Vineyards, are teaming up to offer a day of family-friendly Easter and Earth Day fun. Activities include Easter egg hunting and painting, a petting zoo, olive mill tours, wine and olive oil bottle painting, henna tattoos, yoga, vineyard tours, and wine and olive oil tastings. Point Arena 

Wind & Whale Celebration, Saturday, April 19 — The annual Wind & Whale Celebration at Point Arena Lighthouse celebrates the migration of migrating gray whales and the wind and weather of the coast. The Berkeley Kite Wranglers will fly huge and colorful kites. Scott & Tree Mercer of the Mendonoma Whale & Seal Study will be on hand to answer questions about the marine mammals that frequent our coast. Attendees can walk the property’s 23 acres, tour the light station, learn about the wildlife that can be found in the area, and enjoy locally baked food from The Farm. Redwood Valley 

Coyote Valley Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, April 19 – The annual Earth Day Celebration hosted by the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians is dedicated to the importance of protecting the planet. The afternoon offers workshops, kid friendly crafts, entertainment and local vendors. Free, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Coyote Valley Dance Grounds, 7751 North State St., Redwood Valley, cthp.org.  

Earth Day at Frey Vineyards, Saturday, April 26 – Frey Vineyards, the first USDA -certified organic winery in the country, will host an Earth Day celebration at its brand-new winery. The family friendly afternoon includes bouquet making, spring vegetable start sales, live music, a food truck and free wine tasting for the 21 and over set. Ukiah  

Ukiah Earth Day, Saturday, April 19 — Ukiah’s annual Earth Day festivity includes live music, arts and crafts, educational booths, an electric vehicle showcase and plenty of fun for attendees of all ages.  The event coincides with the annual Community Yard Sale. The 4/19 Sessions, Saturday, April 19 – Cannabis enthusiasts can celebrate both Earth Day and an early 4:20 at the Plantshop. The dispensary and lounge will host an afternoon of live music, food, dabbing, mocktails, games, stoner crafts and a joint rolling contest.
