FORT BRAGG, CA., 4/29/25 – A Fort Bragg man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of being involved in a criminal street gang and other crimes, according to police.
Law enforcement in the area had been investigating possible gang activity after seeing an increase in the area, including violence and graffiti, the Fort Bragg Police Department said.
On Tuesday, a coordinated response was carried out with help from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams at two residences allegedly associated with gangs.
One of the suspects, Christopher Morgan, 23, was arrested in the 300 block of Cypress Street.
A search of Morgan’s home in the 200 block of E. Chestnut Street allegedly led to the discovery of a loaded, unregistered .38 Special revolver in a location that could have been accessed by a child who also resides in the house.
In addition to the firearm, officers also allegedly recovered various items of gang clothing, paraphernalia, and electronic evidence “further substantiating Morgan’s suspected gang involvement,” the police department said.
A second location in the 800 block of Myrtle Street was also searched but no arrests were made.
Morgan was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of battery, criminal threats, criminal storage of a firearm, using violence to prevent someone from leaving a criminal street gang, and participating in a criminal street gang.
Officers obtained a bail enhancement for Morgan, raising his bail to $100,000.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests and charges may follow. Authorities urge anyone with information related to gang activity in the area to contact Sergeant Frank with the Fort Bragg Police Department at (707) 961-2800 ext. 223.
