UKIAH, CA., 3/4/25 – The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified a man who died after being arrested by deputies.
Emil Redzic, 29, of Ukiah, died after a possible medical emergency during his arrest on Wednesday.
Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call from an apartment complex in the 300 block of Brush Street in Ukiah. They spotted Redzic fleeing the area on foot after seeing them, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Video footage shows Redzic arriving at the apartment complex in a pickup that had been reported stolen from Contra Costa County. The pickup was towed by the Sheriff’s Office for evidence.
An arrest warrant for Redzic was issued for suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and violating probation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A few hours later, the Ukiah Police Department received reports of a man yelling near Orr Creek Bridge, just south of Brush Street. Deputies joined Ukiah officers and the California Highway Patrol to respond to the call around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers found Redzic in Orr Creek. They asked him to come out of the creek, but he refused, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
While they were removing him from the water, deputies noticed Redzic was “exhibiting an altered level of continuousness,” the Sheriff’s Office alleges.
Deputies carried Redzic from the creek to an embankment and he went unconscious, they said. Officers removed the handcuffs and gave him multiple doses of Narcan, a medicine used to reverse opioid overdose. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Redzic responded to the medication, but he continued to have a medical emergency.
Medical personnel were called to the scene while officers continued lifesaving measures. Redzic was ultimately taken to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s emergency room, but after 30 minutes of lifesaving efforts at the hospital, he was pronounced dead at 11:04 p.m.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s division and other investigators.
The official cause and manner of death will be available when forensic reports and tests are completed, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s department asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at (707) 463-4086, option 1. Anonymous tips can be made by calling (707) 234-2100.

LOL!!!
The entire article is a lie. The Mendocino County Sheriff murdered my friend Emil Redzic, and everyone knows it, but nothing is being done about it. This county is so damn corrupt; even the coroner is in on it.
First, they said he died of hyperthermia, which makes no sense because, yes, it was February, but it for sure wasn’t that cold. I was outside on the trail when all of this was going on, in a tank top, and I wasn’t cold at all.
Second, they stated that Emil’s official cause of death was an “accidental” acute combined methamphetamine and GHB toxicity.
#1. If he overdosed on methamphetamine and GHB, it wouldn’t have happened almost 2 hours later.
Come on, people, think…. None of this adds up!
About a week ago, I asked one of the sheriff’s if he was present when Emil was MURDERED, and his response was… Yes, he did everything he could to revive him, and for what it’s worth, “He was sorry for our loss… As he stood there gripping his flash light nervously until his knuckles turned white.
Emil didn’t use opiates, he was completely against them because his older brother died from an “accidental” opioid overdose in Contra Costa County a few years prior.
In my personal opinion, his family should look into getting a second autopsy from somewhere outside of Mendocino County because none of it seems to add up!
Emil wasn’t a perfect person but he would’ve given the shirt off his back to help anyone even if it left him with nothing.
My deepest condolences to his family and all of his friends.
Emil has touched so many people’s hearts and definitely will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace Emil Redzic aka Malibu’s Most Wanted!
