MENDOCINO CO., 3/11/25 – An exploration of complex and challenging times is the theme of “Surface Tension,” a new performance by the Mendocino Dance Project.
The contemporary dance troupe, led by Artistic Director Kara Starkweather, will perform the new show for one night only at the Willits Community Theatre on Saturday and two nights at the Matheson Performing Arts Center in Mendocino, Mar. 28-29.
The project has a history of relevancy with its performances and this new show is no exception.
“It is a challenge to remain grounded and stay in touch with our own humanity,” said Starkweather. “We are constantly confronted by so much turbulence in the world.”
Emily Anthony, Priya Birchard, Jessica Curl, Mackenzie Rain and Natalie Thiel-Gebheim will perform an evening of movement with athletic concepts focused on “how we can find each other and stay resilient,” Starkweather said.
“Surface Tension” takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Willits Community Theatre. Tickets are available for $20 at wctperformingartscenter.org or at the door.
Tickets for the Mar. 28-29 performances at the Matheson Performing Arts Center in Mendocino start at $12 for youth and $25 for adults and are available at mendocinocdanceproject.org or at the door.
