UKIAH, CA., 3/16/25 – The City of Ukiah is seeking the public’s input on what the future of emergency response should be in Ukiah and the surrounding unincorporated areas served by the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority.
A meeting will be held on Tuesday to collect community feedback.
The meeting comes after the failure of Measure V to pass in the November election. The measure would have added an annual tax to properties served by the fire authority to support fire and emergency response management. The measure failed to receive the two-thirds majority it needed to pass.
The city and fire authority are partnering to craft the fire authority’s strategic plan. The two agencies are working with the Center for Public Safety Management to design it, a Washington, D.C. based consulting firm.
The meeting will offer opportunities for taxpayers to share experiences, discuss needs and contribute to the strategic planning process.
“We want to ensure our fire services align with community expectations and future challenges,” Ukiah Valley Fire Authority Fire Chief Doug Hutchinson said, “Your input is critical to this planning process.”
The meeting takes place on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, 200 S. School St., Ukiah. For more information contact Hutchinson at dhutchinson@cityofukiah.com or (707) 462-7921.
