MENDOCINO CO., 12/2/24 — Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) hopes to be selected as the next ranking member on the U.S. House of Representatives’ Natural Resources Committee. He would replace Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who in April revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer.

Grijalva issued a statement today that he is leaving the Natural Resources Committee as the principal ranking Democrat for the 119th Congress. Grijalva stated, “I do not make this decision lightly, as being elected Ranking Member stands as the honor of my professional career. I will continue to focus on improving my health, strengthening my mobility, and serving my district in what is likely to be a time of unprecedented challenge for our community.”
