UKIAH, CA., 10/22/24 — This week features the installation of the new sewer main near the intersection of Gobbi and State streets in Ukiah. The city suggests using alternate routes to access the many businesses at and near this intersection, especially during construction hours, which are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The installation of the main is expected to be complete by Wednesday, but then sewer lateral installs start. That will require closing some blocks on Gobbi. Work begins at State Street and then progresses east towards Orchard Avenue. The city says this work should go quickly and be done by early to mid-November.
That’s exciting, no?
But then the crews will shift to Main Street to begin installing water lines.
It all depends upon the weather — the city reminds everyone that sewer work can’t be done during the winter months. So long as the rain holds off, the city will get as far as it can with these infrastructure upgrades.
Says the city press release: “We encourage you to continue supporting local businesses and remind everyone to drive slowly in construction zones and watch for pedestrians and workers.
