WILLITS, CA., 10/24/24 – Spooky season is in full swing, and the Willits Community Theatre is embracing it with the world premiere of “The Whisperer” on Friday.
The play centers on Lena Patrick (Zoe Robertson), a teen newly released from a mental hospital where she received electroshock therapy, which renders her unable to remember why she was hospitalized in the first place.
Prescribed pills to address her health issues, Patrick spirals into sleeplessness filled with terrifying nightmares. Eventually, those nightmares become reality.
“The Whisperer” was written by Willits residents Elizabeth Dellett, Garrett Moore and Jeff Shipp. It’s co-directed by Mathew Caine and Shipp.
“Our goal as playwrights was to follow the structure of the horror movies we all love so much this time of year,” said Shipp. “As directors we have tried to make the live staged action honest, moving, startling and fun for our audience. The actors have all stepped up to the plate.”
“The Whisperer” runs Oct. 25 through Nov. 10 at the Willits Community Theatre, 37 W. Van Ln., Willits. Tickets start at $20, with a special $5 offer at the door for students 18 years and older. Tickets are available here.
