MENDOCINO CO., 10/11/24 – Mushrooms of all shapes, styles and sizes have grown in popularity over the past decade, including the use of magic mushrooms (psilocybin) to treat mental and behavioral health challenges and to allow humans to explore their spirituality and connections to the natural world.

Now in its second year, Saturday’s Myco Country Fair will draw researchers, therapists, artists, growers, enthusiasts and the just plain curious to Laytonville for a celebration and exploration of all thing’s magic mushroom.

The day starts with mycology workshops covering topics such as sustainable mycology, phenotype selection and edible mushroom hunting.

The evening transforms into a more traditional festival vibe with psychedelic fusion jams from Hella Mendocino and a series of DJs spinning into the night.

The fair will have vendors from throughout the region. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own spores, seeds and scions for a swap meet. Camping is available. The event is alcohol-free, and all ages are welcome.

While the event is “pay what you want,” proceeds benefit E.M.E.R.G., a nonprofit that supports “the continuation of sustainable mycology research, education and application across the Emerald Triangle and points beyond.”

Myco Country Fair takes place Sat., Oct. 12 at Area 101 in Laytonville. RSVP is required via mendomyco@protonmail.com. Visit mendomy.co for more information.
