Dear Editor:
Local elections can be decided by a handful of votes and this election is very important to the future of our local community. Because I am constantly asked for local voting recommendations, I have assembled a quick, no-nonsense voters’ guide for residents who care about the local community, local environment and essential services. I have attended all local candidates’ forums to hear from each candidate on important issues.
Here are my voting recommendations.
Fort Bragg Unified School District: Cristal Munoz and Kathy Babcock. I work with Cristal and know her work ethics, her commitment and enthusiasm. I can recommend her without reservation. Kathy Babcock is the incumbent, and she impressed me with her knowledge and commitment at candidates’ night.
Fort Bragg City Council: Lindy Peters and Bethany Brewer. Lindy impressed me at candidates’ night. He not only earned my vote, but I am now working on his campaign. To learn more about Lindy, please go to www.lindypeters.org. Based on his experience and proven results, I can recommend him wholeheartedly. Â
Mendocino Coast Health Care District: Mikael Blaisdell and Lynn Finley. These were the two candidates who stood out at candidates’ night. I have seen Mikael in action. He is sharp and action-oriented. We need his experience and drive to guide us through the current challenges. Learn more about Mikael’s campaign here: https://mb4mchcd.com/
Measure T: Yes. A yes vote will provide important infrastructure, public safety and essential services within the City of Fort Bragg. Sales tax will increase 0.375%. To put this in perspective, when you buy $100 in taxable goods, your sales tax will increase by 37 cents. That small increase will be combined with sales tax collected from tourists and residents in unincorporated areas and invested into your local community.
Measure U: Yes. To provide the same essential services listed above in Measure T. This tax will be paid by tourists and those staying short-term in local hotels. The funds will be invested directly into your local community.
Please vote to keep our community strong and safe.
Laura Bianchi Limbird
Fort Bragg

I agree with some of these recommendations but certainly not for four more years of Lindy Peters, he needs to go for a multitude of reasons. For anyone actually from Fort Bragg rather than someone who moved here in recent years like Laura, we know that Scott, Ryan, and Bethany are the three candidates who actually understand our community’s needs. I voted for Scott and Ryan, as most people I know did. I also know sensible people who voted for Bethany.
Lindy will continue to look after the interests of our community, protecting our coastline and water supply. His experience and institutional knowledge will be essential in moving the City forward. Bethany is another excellent choice.
Ms. Limbird, you falsely accused me and my company of “buying” candidates. You initially did this anonymously and then when confronted you admitted your identity, and your job working for the City.
Campaign finance statements are available and show that my company has made zero financial support for any council candidate. Will you now admit that your accusations were false? And if not, please provide evidence for your accusation?
Finally, when I spoke with Lindy Peters about your accusations he said he has no campaign staff. Do you stand by your comment that you are “working on his campaign”? I would like to get to the bottom of this issue and whether you or Mr. Peters are behind them.
Fun fact:
When someone is acting anonymously they use an alias. Not a first name. Jacob’s comment above shows only his first name. Do I need to remind you of his full name?
Pro Tip:
If someone makes a statement that you find offensive, it is not a good idea to repeat it over and over; and exaggerate the statement in petty tirades. I moved past that long ago.
Fun Fact: when someone doesn’t want to address something, they often try to change the subject.
I have zero to do with Jacob and don’t see how that relates. But back to the point, do you stand by your accusations?
Pro Tip: When you find yourself in trouble, try to change the story of what happened.
When you started this issue on the AVA, you did not divulge your identity. You did not divulge that you work for the City that is suing my company. You did not divulge that you work for Lindy Peter’s reelection campaign. I find that to be very significant things that you did not divulge until you were outted.
You have accused me of illegal activities. I hardly call that “petty”. While you may feel that you can “move past” your false accusations to harm Lindy’s opponents, my company, and my reputation, this issue is far from over.
