MENDOCINO Co., 8/16/24 – Parts of Mendocino County might see a showing of sprinkles this weekend when an unseasonable weather pattern brings a chance of precipitation to the region.
According to the National Weather Service Eureka (NWS), “an unseasonably wet, low pressure system will arrive to the northern part of the redwood coast this weekend.” While most of the rainfall will be north of Mendocino County, a trickle could impact the county on Saturday.
Here’s the forecast for Saturday.

Inland Mendocino County
NWS forecasts that Leggett and Piercy have a 60% chance of showers on Saturday, with the likelihood decreasing by 11 p.m. These areas can expect less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation, with thunderstorms bringing higher rain totals. Highs will be around 76 degrees and lows around 52 degrees.
The Round Valley Blackberry Festival may see sprinkle or two. Round Valley has a 50% chance of isolated showers on Saturday morning, with thunderstorms and scattered showers possible after 11 a.m. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch. The chance of scattered showers dwindles to 30% in the evening, with partly cloudy conditions after 11 p.m. Daytime highs will be around 80 degrees and lows near 43 degrees in the evening.
Laytonville and Willits have a 50% chance of scattered showers and patchy fog in the morning Saturday. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch. After 11 a.m., it’ll be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-to-high 70s. Isolated showers are possible in the early evening with lows around 50 degrees.
In Redwood Valley there is a 40% chance of rain after 11 a.m. with a high near 82 degrees. The evening brings a 20% chance of isolated showers and lows around 53 degrees. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch.
Potter Valley will have fog in the morning, followed by a 40% chance of rain after 11 a.m. with mostly sunny conditions and highs near 81 degrees. Isolated showers are possible before 11 p.m. and patchy fog overnight. Lows will be around 45 degrees. The chance for evening rain is 20%. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch.
As we head further south, the likelihood of precipitation decreases. Ukiah and Hopland have a 40% chance of scattered showers after 11 a.m. on Saturday. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch. After 11, mostly sunny conditions with highs near 82 degrees. The evening will be partly cloudy with lows around 56 degrees.
Anderson Valley will have a 40% chance of scattered showers and patchy fog before 11 a.m. on Saturday. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch. The afternoon will be partly sunny with temperatures near 79 degrees. The chance of isolated showers before 11 p.m. will be around 20% with lows around 50 degrees.
Mendocino Coast
Westport and Fort Bragg both have a 60% chance of showers on Saturday before 11 a.m. A thunderstorm is also possible. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch with a tad more possible during a thunderstorm. The possibility of scattered showers decreases to 30% in the evening. Patchy fog will be in the area overnight. Highs will be near 64 degrees in Westport and 59 degrees in Fort Bragg. Lows will be around 52 degrees.
The village of Mendocino has a 50% chance of scattered showers during the day with cloudy conditions and a high near 63 degrees. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch. The chance of isolated showers in the evening is 20%. Lows will be around 53 degrees.
Down in Point Arena, the chance of scattered showers is 50% during the day, with precipitation totals of less than a tenth of an inch. Conditions will be partly cloudy with highs near 61. The evening brings a 20% chance of isolated showers before 11 p.m. with lows around 54 degrees.
Our final forecast stop is Gualala, which has a 40% chance of scattered showers on Saturday with highs near 54 degrees. The evening will be mostly cloudy, no chance of rain, with lows around 49 degrees. Rain totals will be less than tenth of an inch.
