MENDOCINO Co., 1/8/19 — Two men were taken to the hospital on Monday night, with major injuries and one of them arrested when a driver crossed over the freeway median of U.S. Route 101 and slammed head-on into another car, in Redwood Valley, closing the freeway for about an hour.
Ransome Anderson, 51 of Covelo, was driving southbound on the 101 just north of SR-20 when he allegedly cross over the median into the northbound lanes, crashing into a car driven by Matthew Adams, 40 of Ukiah. Both men were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and Anderson was arrested for driving under the influence. Adams sustained major injuries.

On 01/07/201.9 at approximately, 2010 hours, a white 2011 Dodge 1500 was traveling southbound on US-101, north of SR-20 East, at approximately 50 to 60 MPH. The weather at this time was cloudy and the roadway was wet. The driver of the Dodge turned the vehicle to the left and crossed over the grass median into the northbound lanes. The Dodge collided head-on with a silver 2016 Nissan Altima that was traveling northbound at approximately 65 MPH, The Dodge came to rest in the middle of both northbound lanes, facing in a southeasterly direction. The driver of the Dodge suffered a major injury as a result of the collision), The Nissan overturned and came to rest on its driver sicle, on the northbound shoulder, against the chain link fence and facing in a southerly direction. The driver of the Nissan was transported by air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and also suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Dodge was arrested for suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence a controlled substance, resulting in major injury. This collision is still under investigation.
