MENDOCINO CO., 12/26/25 – Christmas Day was a wet one, and the day after is no exception in Mendocino County as a series of storms continues to impact Northern California.
Here’s the latest on the storm and its impacts.
Stormy conditions continue through Friday afternoon
Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected through Friday afternoon, with locally heavy rain and wind gusts up to 55 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service.
A wind advisory remains in effect for parts of the county until 12 p.m., including the Mendocino Coast and northeastern Mendocino County.Â
The NWS warned that slow-moving heavier showers could cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. A flood watch remains in effect through Friday evening for Mendocino County.
Rain and thunderstorm activity is expected to diminish Friday night, with drier and colder weather forecast for the weekend.
Storm impacts include power outages, closures and downed trees
About 1,800 PG&E customers were without power Friday morning, a significant decrease from more than 9,000 outages reported Wednesday. Customers can report and track outages and estimated restoration times using PG&E’s outage map.
In Fort Bragg, Coast Cinemas said movie showings are canceled until Sunday due to an ongoing power outage. Residents are encouraged to call ahead before visiting local businesses to confirm they have power.
As of 9 a.m., no major road incidents had been reported by the California Highway Patrol or Caltrans.
Weekend forecast: clearing skies but chilly nights
Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with only a slight chance of morning showers. Overnight Saturday into Sunday could bring frost across the county. Residents should protect sensitive plants and check on pets and vulnerable neighbors ahead of colder overnight temperatures.
The NWS also said fog and low clouds are likely in valleys overnight and during the morning hours.
Rough seas continue along the coast
Marine conditions remain hazardous, the NWS said. Gale-force winds and very rough seas are expected through Friday, with seas generally in the teens before gradually easing into the weekend. Conditions may remain dangerous near beaches, rocks and jetties, and people are urged to use caution if heading to the shoreline.
