MENDOCINO CO., 3/24/25 – A Gualala man has been arrested for the alleged homicide of a Point Arena man in 2023, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
On Sept. 24, 2023, a bar brawl turned deadly when the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man being physically assaulted at a bar in Point Arena.
The man was found dead on Ten Mile Cut Off Road, a rural road in an unincorporated area of Mendocino County far away from the bar. An autopsy later determined the man, 32-year-old Jesus Joel Romero, of Point Arena, was shot multiple times, the sheriff’s office said.
Two men were identified as persons of interest in the homicide of Romero. One of them, 23-year-old Antonio Coria Garcia, turned himself in to the sheriff’s office the following day. He was booked at Mendocino County Jail on accusations of murder.
The sheriff’s office identified the second person of interest as Edgar Arteaga Coria, of Gualala. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 26, 2023. It was believed by the sheriff’s office that Coria fled Mendocino County.
In January, the sheriff’s office was informed by the Los Angeles Police Department that Coria was suspected of living in the Los Angeles area under an alias and was wanted for an alleged burglary. The FBI was called in to assist with the investigation.
On Wednesday, Coria was arrested after a traffic stop in Los Angeles.
The next day, Coria was transported to Mendocino County Jail and booked on $1 million bail on allegations of homicide and felony bodily injury with a firearm. Â
