A Feather Alert is a statewide notification issued by the California Highway Patrol for missing Indigenous people who are considered at risk due to age, disability or suspicious circumstances. The system, created in 2023 under California law, functions similarly to an Amber Alert but is specific to Native American and Indigenous individuals and was established in response to disproportionately high rates of missing and murdered Indigenous people.
