WILLITS, CA., 2/20/26 – Willits residents are invited to drop off unwanted household items at the city’s upcoming “Dump Days” event starting Tuesday.

Have an old chair with a torn cushion sitting in the basement? A mattress taking up space in the garage? A beat-up play set that your now-teenage kids aren’t using? The city will allow residents to dispose of up to two cubic yards of household items at no cost at the Willits Transfer Station.

Accepted items include furniture, appliances, bulky household items, mattresses and green waste. Hazardous waste, business waste, construction debris, commercial tires and tires on rims will not be accepted.

But don’t think it’s that easy –– residents must procure a voucher, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis at Willits City Hall (111 E. Commercial St.) during business hours. The free voucher is available only to residents of the city. Residents must show identification and proof of residency, such as a water or electric bill.

The program is funded through the Caltrans Clean California Local Grant Program and is intended to support community cleanup efforts.

Dump Days takes place Feb. 24-28. For more information, contact cstack@cityofwillits.org.
