UKIAH, CA., 2/23/26 — MCHC Health Centers added a new physician to its Ukiah team in January, the health care provider announced Friday.

Dr. Amanda Nguyen is seeing patients at Hillside Health Center, where she provides primary care for patients of all ages.

In addition to her clinic work, Nguyen offers obstetric services twice a week at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, supporting patients through vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.

Nguyen said her decision to pursue family medicine was shaped by experiences working with rural communities, where patients often travel long distances for care.

She said primary care providers play a key role in helping patients navigate the health system and access needed services.

Nguyen most recently completed a surgical obstetrics fellowship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, building on her family medicine residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Her professional interests include women’s health, LGBTQIA+ care, gender-affirming treatment and medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders.

Nguyen recently relocated to Ukiah with her wife and dog. When not working, she enjoys musical theater, fishing and home improvement projects.

Her hiring comes at a critical time as rural counties across California face ongoing challenges recruiting and retaining physicians, particularly in primary and maternity care, due in part to workforce shortages and the financial pressures facing rural hospitals.
