National Weather Service cold weather advisory (NWS via Bay City News)

MENDOCINO CO., 2/19/26 – The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for Friday morning across Mendocino County.

The advisory starts at midnight and ends at 9 a.m. Friday.

According to the weather service in Eureka, southern Mendocino County and the coast will see lows between 22 and 27 degrees. Northern inland parts of the county will see temperatures as low as 19 degrees.

Cold wind chills can increase the risk of hypothermia for anyone exposed for extended periods. Residents are advised to dress in layers, wear hats and gloves, and limit time outdoors if possible—limiting time outdoors also includes animals.

  1. I’m up at 4 a.m. wondering if there are people freezing to death out in this weather.

In years past, I have seen the news outlets sharing warming station locations, but I don’t recall hearing about any ahead of this storm.

Where are all of the unhoused this morning? I can’t imagine what it would be like to stuck outdoors in this weather. I pray they found a warm place to shelter.
