UKIAH, CA., 12/24/25 –  The Mendocino Voice and partner organizations will hold a community listening session at Mendocino College on Jan. 13, to learn about the news coverage needs of Mendocino County’s Native American communities.

As part of plans to develop a journalism training program and expand coverage of Native American affairs, The Mendocino Voice hopes to hear how it can expand coverage to better meet local news and information needs.

“Part of our mission as a nonprofit newsroom is to fill news gaps with balanced, culturally sensitive coverage. To do that, we have to listen first,” said Katherine Ann Rowlands, publisher of The Mendocino Voice.

The event, “Community Call: Native American Voices in the News,” is being organized in collaboration with Mendocino College and the North Far North Regional Consortium, a group of 15 community colleges that supports educational programs and workforce development.

Community Call: Native American Voices in the News” will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lowery Student Center at Mendocino College, 1000 Hensley Creek Road, Ukiah. The event is free, but registration is requested via a form here.
